Welcome to Santa Monica Pier, the place to visit since 1909.
Here you can enjoy seafood meals, have fun on the roller coaster or have a great view on the Ferris wheel in Pacific Park or visit the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium (UCLA Ocean Discovery Center).
At the base of the pier is a Santa Monica Police Substation, for the fisherman license-free fishing is allowed from the pier and you will find a number of shops, the Playland Arcade, restaurants, boat rides, bike rentals and always some street performers.
Originally the city builded a fishing pier in 1909, but it was changed to an amusement pier in 1916 with the first ride on the roller coaster on the evening of August 2nd 1916.
The trademark carousel in Pacific Park was built in 1922, has a special historic charm and is still open for rides.
